Which values apply?
| Area | Typical maintained value |
|---|---|

| Evening classes, adult education, lecture halls | 500 lx |
| Wall board | 500 lx vertical |
| Corridors | 100 lx |
Guide values to DIN EN 12464-1 and licht.de. The exact values depend on the version of the standard and the use; uniformity, glare and colour rendering (Ra ≥ 80) are always part of it.
Matching luminaires
- Classrooms: low-glare LED panels Series 11 or the Series 06 office luminaire with presence detector and daylight sensor.
- Board: dedicated board lighting so that the vertical surface is evenly lit.
- Corridors and stairwells: Downlights Series 17 with presence control.
- Sports hall: ball-impact-resistant luminaires – see Sports hall lighting.
Light only when someone is there
Classrooms stand empty during breaks, free periods and holidays. Presence detectors then switch the lights off, and daylight sensors dim them when the sun is out. More on this in the guide Presence detectors and light control.
Safety lighting
Schools need safety lighting for escape routes in accordance with the state school building regulations and the fire safety concept. The luminaires of Series 19 test themselves – largely sparing the caretaker the monthly inspection.
