Retrofitting emergency lighting.
No central battery, no new cabling.

Anyone who has to retrofit safety lighting in an existing building or replace an old central battery system often shies away from the work of laying new cables. Luminaires with a battery in the housing only need the normal mains connection – and with emergency drivers, even existing LED luminaires become emergency-capable.

At a glance
  • Luminaires with a self-contained battery need no central battery and no fire-resistant circuit-integrity cabling
  • Series 19 luminaires have a replaceable LiFePO4 battery for up to 3 hours of emergency operation
  • Emergency drivers make existing LED fittings and LED high bays up to 300 W emergency-capable
  • Automatic self-tests to EN 62034 with a test log via app largely replace the monthly inspection

Self-contained battery or central battery?

In existing buildings a self-contained battery is often the faster and cheaper route. Which system is required for your building follows from the building permit and the fire safety concept.

All luminaires provide up to 3 hours of emergency operation and can be managed via Bluetooth and the KeiltonEM App. Full details on the product page Emergency lighting Series 19.

Making existing luminaires emergency-ready

  • Emergency drivers for LED fittings: 8 W or 15 W emergency output, 90 minutes emergency operation, IP20 or IP65.
  • Emergency driver for LED high bays: for high bays up to 300 W, 40 W emergency output, 90 minutes, IP65 housing for industrial environments.

This turns part of the general lighting into safety lighting – with no additional luminaires on the ceiling.

Testing via app instead of walk-round inspection

The luminaires carry out function and duration tests automatically and store the results. The test log can be exported via the app. Visual inspection remains the operator's responsibility. More in the guide Testing emergency lighting.

Frequently asked questions

Can emergency lighting be retrofitted without new cabling?

Yes. Luminaires with a battery in the housing only need a normal mains connection. A central battery and cables with circuit integrity are not required.

Are there downlights with emergency lighting?

Yes. The recessed downlight of Series 19 delivers 500 lm in emergency mode for up to 3 hours and sits discreetly in the ceiling.

Can I use existing LED luminaires as emergency lighting?

With emergency drivers, yes: for LED fittings of 8 or 15 W and for LED high bays up to 300 W, each with 90 minutes of emergency operation.

How long does an emergency luminaire's battery last?

In Series 19 the LiFePO4 battery is replaceable and designed for at least 5 years. The batteries of the emergency drivers for LED fittings are designed for at least 10 years.
